Why this matters — the research

These two years shape your child’s whole relationship with maths.

This isn’t just another hobby class. Decades of research say the maths foundation built at 5–6 quietly decides how your child performs — and feels — about maths for years to come.

Early maths is the #1 predictor of school success

A landmark study of 35,000+ children found early maths skills predict later academic achievement more strongly than any other school-entry skill — even reading.

Experts recommend quality maths at ages 3–6

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics urges high-quality maths learning for every child aged 3 to 6 — exactly the window Lingo Bingo serves.

Maths fear takes root early — unless we prevent it

Research shows maths anxiety can begin in the very first years of school and grows with every pressured, joyless maths experience. The easiest time to stop it is before it starts.

The program

What is Lingo Bingo?

A game and activity-based early maths program for ages 5–6 — playful games plus structured activity exercises, carefully paced for little ones. It’s the step before abacus: children arrive at formal abacus training curious, confident and comfortable with numbers.

Play & discover 🎲

Children meet numbers through colourful games — counting, matching and Bingo-style play that feels purely like fun.

Practise through activities ✏️

Structured activity-based exercises gently turn play into real skill — number sense first, then basic addition & subtraction concepts.

Meet the abacus 🧮The exciting moment!

Mid-program, children are introduced to very basic abacus calculations — sliding real beads to make real answers. For little ones, this moment is pure magic.

FAQ

The questions on every parent’s mind

What exactly is the Lingo Bingo program?
A research-based early maths program for ages 5–6. Games and activity exercises build number sense and basic addition & subtraction — and remove maths fear early. It's the step before abacus.
Why is early maths so important at 5–6?
A study of 35,000+ children (Duncan et al., 2007) found early maths predicts school success better than reading. NCTM recommends quality maths from ages 3–6, and maths anxiety can start in the first school years.
Isn't 5 too young to start?
Not for this. Lingo Bingo isn't formal maths — it's games and playful exercises paced for young attention spans, with no pressure.
Will it feel like extra study? What if my child can't focus yet?
To your child it feels like play. Sessions are short and game-led; focus grows as part of the program, not as a requirement for joining.
Is this the same as an abacus class? What happens after?
No — it's the step before abacus. Mid-program children try their first basic abacus calculations, then move into Mastermind's abacus & mental maths program already confident with numbers.
How long is the program and how often are classes?
About 2 hours a week, completed in 6–12 months at your child's own pace. It's taught in person at Mastermind centres — hands-on learning works best at this age, so it isn't offered online.
How is this different from Kumon, SIP Abacus, UCMAS or Cuemath?
Most abacus programs start at 6+ with structured drills, and worksheet-led programs can feel like study to a 5-year-old. Lingo Bingo is purpose-built for ages 5–6 — foundation first, formal speed-work later.
How do I book a Lingo Bingo demo class?
Book a free demo class — no cost, no commitment. Watch your child play, learn and light up, then decide.
